Free technical and vocational education aligned with the demands of today's job market

In our 18 campuses, there are approximately 18,500 students enrolled in various types of courses. We offer a total of 192 courses across technical secondary education, undergraduate, and graduate levels. There are about 1,900 employees and 450 collaborators. The average number of available spots offered annually in selection processes is around 5,200.

Our mission is to train and qualify professionals in different areas, in close connection with the demands of society and the job market. We develop research and extension projects connected with local productive arrangements and the needs of the communities we serve. We recognize the significance of innovation and entrepreneurship in driving progress and success. As such, we have integrated these concepts as core pillars of our curriculum, incentivizing intellectual production, cultivating the growth of junior companies, and fostering business incubation. We believe that by promoting a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, we can inspire our students to think outside the box and develop the skills and mindset necessary to tackle real-world problems and drive positive change.

Brazil’s Federal Network of Education

IFMG has a history of over 110 years as one of the 42 institutions comprising Brazil's Federal Network of Professional, Scientific, and Technological Education. Beginning in 1909 with just 19 schools for apprentices and artisans, the Federal Network experienced significant growth, expanding to over 660 units across the country. It includes 38 Federal Institutes of Education, Science, and Technology (the IFs); two Federal Centers for Technological Education (the CEFETs); and Colégio Pedro II in Rio de Janeiro.

Minas Gerais:

A large inland state located in southeastern Brazil. Its name, which means 'General Mines' in Portuguese, reflects its abundance of mineral resources. With a population second only to São Paulo, it is Brazil's fourth largest state.

Minas Gerais has a rich history and vibrant culture. It was a hub for gold and diamond mining in the 18th century and played a crucial role in the Brazilian independence movement. The region is known for its distinctive cuisine, music, and art, including traditional dishes like pão de queijo and feijão tropeiro, as well as notable landmarks like Ouro Preto and Tiradentes. Music is also an important part of the state's cultural identity, with both traditional and contemporary artists gaining international acclaim. Overall, Minas Gerais is a must-visit destination for those interested in exploring Brazil's cultural heritage.

This hub is accredited by the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Research and Innovation (Embrapii), an organization that is part of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations, and Communications. It serves as a reference point in the field of "Mobility and Intelligent Systems" and provides support to companies and institutions in conducting technological research aimed at fostering innovation within the Brazilian industry. Additionally, it operates in the sub-fields of "Automotive Systems and Transportation" and "Optimization of Processes and Mobile Assets." By promoting a culture of innovation and research, the Innovation Hub at IFMG plays a vital role in driving technological advancement and fostering economic growth in the region.
